Sure is dark at Headquarters

First couple of nights out after the protests moved toward uptown away from CMPD Headquarters, I had to roll up and see just how many lights were out. Police were on guard and wanting to know why I was there, and I explained what I was doing. They permitted me to mark the poles and I left. I was able to get 6 lights in their parking lot fixed within 2 days and the Gold Line lights in front of the Police Department would be a different challenge. We were able to make a difference, but it would take baby steps. All six were repaired and they thanked me for doing whatever I did to get them working again after stating they had not worked in years. I guess people get accustomed to things not working, and accept that it’s normal after so long. We are still working on the Gold Line Lights as of July 2020. Currently, there are 17 lights out on the line and 6 in front of the Police Department. Duke Energy and CATS will have to coordinate and get them repaired.

Update: The Goldline lights in front of the Police Department and all the way to Novant Health are all repaired, finally in March 2021.
