The 4th ward has its share of train tracks and we certainly hear the train horns at night to remind us they still travel on these tracks. The one thing you probably never think about is the Train Underpasses. There are some on 5th, 6th, Trade, 4th, and Morehead. These Train Track Underpass bridges are supposed to be lit up at night so pedestrians can walk under them to connect to the other side, and cars too. Several of these Underpass bridges have been dark this month. I investigated and found that recent construction involving the new Amtrak lines to Gateway station required the power to be turned off temporarily. Someone just forgot to turn them back on, they were back on the next day, thanks to Anthony Mendez with the City of Charlotte, Streetlight Program.
